Cardiologist Questions Cardiologist

Should I be worried about endocarditis?

I got diagnosed with MVP many years ago. I was used to having chest pain/shortness of breath. It did get better with bettered lifestyle. Lately, I’m very fatigued, sleep a lot more, have chest pain, and more shortness of breath. I get these red spots sometimes, kind of similar to petechiae, not sure. Had an episode where I felt shaky but my body was not actually shaking. Then recently a nail splinter. Had a bad tooth infection that wouldn’t show on the outside, so the tooth has to be extracted after a month, I was on antibiotics prior to and after. I’ve had a stressful year, had covid, and more, maybe that plays into everything. What would be the cheapest way to test for possible endocarditis? Get blood labs at a hospital for bacteria? Or I shouldn’t let it get to my head over a small splinter?

U need to get echocardiogram and blood cultures to rule out endocarditis.
U also need proper clinical evaluation since endocarditis can be very serious if not treated on time.
Please get seen by your physician or provider.  This is not something you can tease out by yourself. Please do this very quickly, as if you do have endocarditis you need to be on treatment NOW.
Request an order for blood cultures.
