Neurologist Questions Head Injuries

Should I go to the ER even though it’s been over a week

I was assaulted by being hit in the back of the head with a large metal tool. I did not lose consciousness, I was able to leave the danger area and I immediately laid down because I was in pain. When I woke, I vomited. I immediately chose to go back to sleep. I vomited one more time when I woke again, I was experiencing extreme vertigo and I lost hearing in my left ear. I slept for multiple days in a row, I felt as though I was running a mild fever, when I was able to lay down in a tub to wash the blood out of my hair, the water was heavily red brown. I have painful pressure in my forehead, and have been experiencing sciatic nerve pain. I’m starting to feel better, I’m not as unbalanced but I still have no hearing on my left side and my head is still feeling painful pressure when I go from sitting to standing. It’s been over a week, should I still be worried about anything or am I alright now that I’ve made it this long? I need to know if I should go to an er.

Yes. Go today so that your head may be scanned. Vernita D. Hairston, MD Dept. of Neurology
You should MOST DEFINITELY seek medical attention immediately.  You could have a fracture with an open wound, a contusion with likely a hematoma. Theres a risk also of developing an infection. PLEASE call 911 or have someone take you to the EMERGENCY ROOM. Good luck Dr. F Sent from the all new AOL app for Android
