“Should I go to the ER for low hemoglobin?”
I have low hemoglobin levels. Should I go to the ER for low hemoglobin?

Generally speaking, low hemoglobin levels require additional work-up. An emergency department visit is warranted if you are acutely symptomatic from a rapid decline in your hemoglobin level from your baseline and/or have a hemoglobin of < 7-8, as you may benefit from a blood transfusion.
An ER, like the word says, is for EMERGENCY. Your low hemoglobin is certainly NOT that unless you have active and severe bleeding. It is a symptom that needs to be investigated to find the cause which may take days or even weeks. This is NOT the function of an ER, but of a competent doctor in a clinic.
