A short course of therapy would probably help with the post operative pain and help improve range of motion

Yes rehabilitation after surgery is highly recommended
Absolutely! After the recommended time of immobility, it is imperative to get the joint moving. However, passive movement is recommended initially followed by gentle progressive active movement. For this reason Physical Therapy is highly recommended after elbow surgery.
