“Strange lump on testicle?”

Hello, I've been having some very mild ache in my testicles (primarily left one, but occasionally moving to the right) for a few days now. I've also had some lower intestine pain and strange stools (basically symptoms similar to IBS which I might have gotten) so I assumed it's just pain from there radiating all over the place. Today in the shower I felt a sort of lumpy hard texture under my left testicle not round but more like a hard vein, the same spot on my other testicle is slightly less hard, my question is can the epididymis be hard? Anything I find online states that it's supposed to be squishy but I feel like mine is harder, and also could it be the effect of showering in hot water that makes the veins there harder? Also just to add, the pain has been subsiding since it started, it's almost gone now, feels more like just discomfort, and some tenderness which I'm assuming is just me examining it too much out of worry. Lastly, there are no other symptoms, other than the scrotum being a bit red but only after a lot of examination which is probably the cause.
