Pediatric Ophthalmologist Questions Ophthalmologist

Swollen eyelid?

Is this a cause for concern? Is there something I can do to stop the swelling? It swells overnight and during the day the swelling goes down some but it’s back in the morning. Not a lot of crust and the eyeball isn’t red just swelling on the eyelid.

That is in the area of the tear gland called the lacrimal gland, beneath the outer portion of the upper eyelid. You should see an ophthalmologist within a week for an examination. There are many causes ranging from a common blocked eyelid gland called a chalazion, to an abnormality of the lacrimal gland itself or adjacent structures. An exam is necessary as a
first step.
I hope this helps.

It doesn’t look like your daughter is uncomfortable which is good hard to tell from photo but I suggest an exam with a pediatric ophthalmologist
Well-taken photo, thanks. Assuming no fever, doesn't look or sound like infection. Normal pediatrician won't know what to do with this. Take her to a regular or pediatric ophthalmologist (not optometrist). In the absence of any more findings, I would order an orbital CT after a careful medical eye exam. This should all happen before the end of 2021.
Thank you for the good picture of her eyelid, but I really recommend her to be seen in person by an optometrist to further evaluate her eyelids as well as the surrounding facial structures for any hidden problems or infections.

Seek medical attention. Very likely that antibiotics are needed
Would get your daughter checked out as a precaution. Could be an allergic reaction or early eyelid infection. Does not look serious currently. It could also be a dermoid cyst which is a benign growth.

The swelling goes down during the day due to gravity. Swelling of the eyelid can be due to allergy, infection, or inflammation. If this does not improve within a few days, please see a pediatric ophthalmologist. SO
This may be an allergic reaction to the pillow or the sheets cleaning product or feathers in the pillow. Hard to say exact cause of allergies. Switch up the laundry cleaner to dreft. See if it works or use a hypoallergenic pillow
