Thigh pain?

For about 2 weeks I will randomly get a severe pain in my thigh that freezes me in place and lasts for a few seconds. They come and go randomly. For the past 4 years, I've gained about 100 pounds. I've been walking some recently to try and lose weight. I quick smoking 6 years ago. I don't drink. I only drink water, coffee, and tea unsweetened. I've also had a knee injury for about 4 years that I still haven't had checked out.

I would first have an evaluation by an orthopaedic surgeon and get an x-ray to make sure you do not have an osteoarthritis of your hip!
The most worrisome diagnosis is a stress reaction or stress fracture in the femur with the increased activity and weight gain. Severe pain like that should be evaluated. I would start with my primary care physician. They should be able to steer you in the right direction.

Good luck,
