Treating chronic muscle pain?

My husband has continual lower back pain and has had several surgeries and fusions in the lower spine. This has left him in a lot of pain over the span of 14 years. He has had many treatments like facet injections and intracept therapy but the pain persists. He is currently on pain medication which eases the pain somewhat. He can no longer sleep in a bed because the twisting motion required to get out of bed is excruciating. He sleeps in a lift chair. He does not get a good night’s sleep ever. Can acupuncture help relieve the pain?

We start with 6 sessions at 2x a week for 3 weeks. Everyone responses differently to treatment but usually expect you to be 30-40% better by the 6th session. Then we will taper down to every other week, so on and so forth.
We will exam 1st. Then provide dry needling 1st. Patients will find instant results in general.
Depending on patients’ medical histories and conditions, each patient will have different responses. Patients will have to follow up in 3-7days depending on severity.
Patients will be examined again on how much difference they have experienced since the initial acupuncture treatment.
Then we can give patients a plan for symptomatology.
If we find limitations in improvements, we will apply different plans as a holistic approach.
Yes, it helps
Patients who have undergone surgery and medication require more time.
It varies greatly from patient to patient.
Yes indeed, acupuncture is known for its effectiveness for lower back pain. But be prepared to go for many treatments since the longer you've had a problem, the longer it takes to heal it. Check with your insurance to see if your plan covers acupuncture as many do now.

Good luck. I hope it helps him quickly.
It may take a while for your husband to get relief. I would try acupuncture with massage and herbs and hopefully over time he will gradually experience less pain. It may take a while as this sounds like a chronic issue.
Good morning,

1. Received your question, very detailed. Thank you.
2. Acupuncture will benefit the low back pain, but the practitioner needs to treat the diabetes and the whole body function at the same time, to get a better result.
3. If you shall have any questions please feel free to contact me at (562)698-3008.

Hi there. I just read your question, and I'm so sorry to hear that your husband is in so much discomfort. My answer for your question is yes, and no. I believe that acupuncture may help reduce his pain to some degree, but I don't think it will resolve it completely. Any relief he gets may also be, only, temporary. Because of the surgeries, the structure of his body has changed and may contribute, to various degrees, to his recurring pain. What I tell my patients is that I liken these sort of conditions to a house on fire. The acupuncture will turn off the alarm telling you that there's a fire, but the house will continue to burn and set it off again. Acupuncture may relieve his pain to some degree, but if the source of the pain is a structural one, that pain will keep coming back. I'm sorry, I wish I had a more optimistic opinion for you, but this is how I see it realistically. Now, this is only MY opinion. There may be some other acupuncturists who have had great results using a protocol that I'm not familiar with. So I recommend that you continue to ask around. Good luck and I hope you find someone that proves my opinion wrong.
Yes
Acupuncture can help your husband's pain however it is going to take many treatments before you can see some positive results. Please, don't be discouraged and be patient.
Might be helpful. Worth a try.
I’m so sorry to hear of your husband’s situation. Acupuncture is an excellent idea for back pain, especially post-op. Like with anything natural, it can take time, so patience and consistency are key. Also, find a recommended practitioner in your area. Research and personal clinical experience have yielded high pain relief results usually in 80-90% of patients. May your husband be blessed with a complete recovery! yes. I encourage you to book a session with your practitioner of choice to get help with relief.
Consult Functional Medicine and start Acupuncture with Moxibustion. If BMI over 27, consult Obesity Medicine. Remove inflammatory foods from diet and sugar.
Yes, you can try acupuncture.
Acupuncture can probably help relieve your husband's pain. By how much and for how long is going to depend on the exact nature of all the spinal procedures he's undergone. At a minimum, a good acupuncturist should be able to get your husband sleeping better in the lift chair.
Yes, acupuncture can help your husband relieve the pain and it also can treat the diabetes but you need to find a very good acupuncturist, many acupuncturists are not that effective.
