Weight concerns?

So, I checked my BMI and it says I'm overweight. I am 13, 5'5, and 146.6 lbs. I would like to know if there is anything I could do to lose the weight.

In answer to your question “is there anything I can do to lose weight”, this is most difficult to answer, but I will try. There are two main ways to lose weight. First is to reduce the number of calories you consume each day. This includes calories from carbohydrates (sweet things with sugar, starches such as rice, potatoes and pasta) and calories from fats (such as animal products, fats from veggies such as avocado and nuts, etc.). Next and just as important is to exercise. Now exercise can come in many forms, such as walking, running or swimming. But it also includes taking stairs instead of an elevator, parking further away from a building so you walk more, etcLosing weight is a difficult thing to do. Please talk to your physician about this at your next well visit. And talk to your parents about helping you to make good food choices, and to start or continue an exercise daily that you enjoy. But you can do it!!

Actually, your BMI is healthy. Anything less than 25 is normal. In general we recommend 5 fruits and vegetables in a day 1 hour of physical activity. (Does not have to be all at once, but cumulative). Avoid juice and soda. Drink water and low-fat milk only and you should be fine.
