What anesthesia is used for back surgery?

I will have back surgery. What anesthesia is used for back surgery?

Working 'low' on the back, a simple (less than 1 hour (excise a piece of herniated disc, excision superficial fatty tissue,..) procedure could be done with a spinal (not having to go completely asleep) anesthetic.Anything longer than an hour (you get uncomfortable lying on your stomach on the back surgery positioning OR table), a general anesthetic will be used for the procedure.
