Hi! if rest, ice, stretching, change in shoe gear and over the counter medications are not helping, I would seek an evaluation by a podiatrist.
I can advise you to see a foot and ankle surgeon for a consultation. A focused physical exam, in addition to your history of any injury, will be utilized to determine if you need an X-ray, CT Scan or MRI. A plan of care to alleviate your ankle pain will be derived from the findings of the imaging studies and physical exam.
Unfortunately that is a very difficult question to answer.
A thorough history, evaluation, and X-rays are needed to start the treatment process.
There are many causes of ankle pain and as such require individual workup and treatment.

Well, as presented, that is a difficult question to answer. Your age, medical and family history, your activity level (ie: athletics), type of pain, frequency of pain, location of pain, duration of pain, and any history of injury would all be necessary pieces of information just to begin to evaluate your pain and make a correct diagnosis and treatment recommendations.
I would strongly recommend that you consult with a Podiatric Surgeon who is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery for a proper evaluation, diagnosis and treatment recommendations.

There are many reasons to have ankle pain. I would recommend that x-ray of the ankle to determine if there is any bone issues. Also I would have ankle evaluated by a specialist to see if there is any ligament or tendon issues as well. Once the cause of the problem is identified then appropriate treatment can be given. Without an evaluation to determine the cause of the ankle pain it would be difficult to answer this question however in the meantime supportive shoe gear would be my recommendation, well-made sneakers and an over-the-counter ankle brace, Tylenol as needed if there are no contraindications. Hope this helps
Ankle pain derives from a root cause of either damage internally or structure deformity, in order to know what can be done, the root cause has to be known, therefore, please see a local podiatrist or orthopedic doctor.
Start with rest, ice and elevation. I recommend you make an appointment with a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) for diagnosis and appropriate treatment options,
This is largely dependent on what the cause of your ankle pain is. For most pathologies, rest, ice, elevation, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, and compression wraps or ankle braces help with ankle pain. If those things do not alleviate your pain after a couple of weeks, you should have the problem evaluated by a specialist. This may include radiographs or other imaging studies to get the appropriate diagnosis.
See a foot and ankle specialist/podiatrist for a work-up. If it is chronic/long lasting, the podiatrist may offer you custom orthotics for example, or possibly surgery. If it is short term/several days or a few weeks, you may need an ankle brace, rest, ice, and elevation.
