What can cause hip pain?

I have hip pain and want to treat it. What can cause hip pain?

Hip pain is a symptom and finding the source of the hip pain is important in successful recovery Sources of hip pain are; 1. Tight fascia from a prior injury around hip that limited full pain free ROM 2. Osteoarthritis in the hip joint 3. Lumbar disc bulge at L-1 / L-2 4. Poor posture, prolonged sitting
The structure of this joint is a ball and socket. The hip bears 70% of the weight for the body. Several structures can cause pain
1. The bone of the Ilium (the hip) or the bone of the Femur (thigh) can have damage to the cartilage. and they could be touching at some point during movement.
2. The Hip bone where it meets the femur could have an extra Ridge of bone that causes what is called an impingement. This is typically most notable in a repetitive motion like walking or cycling.
3. The joint capsule has become tight typically from too much of one position
4. The Psoas Muscle is tight and weak. Similar to #3. But the best remedy is actually strengthening this muscle.
5. Weakness in the Rotator Cuff of the hip. This includes piriformis, Superior and Inferior gemelus, Obturator Internus and Externus. It can also include the Gluteus Medius.
6. Another thing that can cause hip pain is the SacroIliac Joint or SI Joint. This is either from too much or too little movement.
7. The nerves that go into the Hip Joint Capsule come from the Lumbar region of L2/3, 3/4 so you could have a dysfunction at this level.
Many conditions can lead to hip pain. It maybe sacroiliac joint dysfunction that can present as hip pain, it may be bursitis, osteoarthritis of the hip joint itself which can also cause groin pain. It is best to have it evaluated.
