Tooth erosion can be caused by overzealous brushing, habits like grinding or clenching the teeth, and by chemicals such as stomach acid from self induced vomiting.
Tooth erosion is caused by an acidic environment in your mouth. This can be due to beverages consumed, sucking on lemons/limes/oranges, and certain health conditions such as GERD or bulimia. The acid will wear away at the tooth structure and cause lesions near the gumline and on the biting surfaces of your teeth.
