Teeth sensitivity to hot and cold can be caused by:

1. **Enamel Erosion** – Worn-down enamel exposes sensitive dentin.
2. **Gum Recession** – Exposed tooth roots lead to sensitivity.
3. **Cavities** – Decay exposes the tooth pulp.
4. **Cracked Teeth** – Cracks expose sensitive inner layers.
5. **Teeth Grinding** – Wear and tear on enamel or small cracks.
6. **Recent Dental Work** – Sensitivity can be temporary after procedures.

### Treatment Options:
1. **Desensitizing Toothpaste** – Reduces sensitivity over time.
2. **Fluoride Treatment** – Strengthens enamel.
3. **Soft-Bristled Toothbrush** – Prevents further enamel wear.
4. **Gum Grafting** – For gum recession.
5. **Fillings or Crowns** – To address cavities or cracks.
6. **Mouthguards** – For teeth grinding.
7. **Avoid Acidic Foods/Whitening Products** – Reduce sensitivity triggers.

If the sensitivity persists or worsens, seeing a dentist is recommended.
When the enamel becomes too thin and tooth dentin is exposed teeth will become sensitive. Brushing side to side, clenching, acidic drinks and receding gums can all cause sensitivity.  Change in brushing technique , diet along with the use of various sensitivity toothpastes can often help. If the problem persists see your dentist , an  application of varnish to the affected areas  may be recommended or a  night guard acan usually resolve the problem.Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone
