“What do broken blood vessels in the eye mean?”
I notice broken blood vessels in my left eye. Is it serious? Should I see a doctor?

Usually broken blood vessels on the outside are from increased pressure from sneezing coughing or straying to go to the bathroom or lifting a heavy object . These things are called Valsalva . If the blood vessels keep breaking there could be a concern that you are not clotting your blood well. This should be checked with an internal medicine doctor or an eyecare professional. A subconjunctival hemorrhage can be associated with high blood pressure, the use of blood thinners, dry eyes, or itching eyes. In general the blood will clear in a few days. If you have repeated episodes, please contact your ophthalmologist for an examination. Rona Z.
