I am a 33 year old male. I want to know what does salt water do for an abscess tooth?

Nothing! You need to see a dentist and to take antibiotics. Also the tooth canal must be open so the puss can drain. If this is not done the infection will eat up the bone to drain or you will get really swollen. Tooth infection is VERY serious condition! The tooth is very close to your brain, right?
Helps a little bit by decreasing the bacterial load. An abscessed tooth needs professional treatment including, but not limited to: antibiotics, root canal, or extraction.
No action, but might reduce the acidity of the oral environment when you get infection.
