You should avoid foods high in mercury such as certain fish. A healthy balanced diet is suggested, and you should continue foods in iron or take iron supplements for at least the first 2-3 months after delivery. You can also continue taking your prenatal vitamins, they contain most of the essential nutrients necessary for lactation and postpartum recovery.
Hi,
If you are bread feeding, the foods you eat can pass to your baby through your milk. Be careful with:
Caffeine: drink more than 3 cups (24 ounces) of coffee or soda a day, and you can upset your baby's sleep and temperament (they may be irritable).
Some fish: Swordfish, shark, king mackerel, and tilefish in mercury, a toxin that is harmful to your baby, so avoid them. Tuna can have some mercury, too.

If you are breastfeeding, you may avoid spices that upset baby’s tender young stomach. You may reduce coke and sprite and carbonated beverages, with phosphoric acid since you gave away a lot of your own calcium to grow a human skeleton in your uterus! Load up on lean, hormone-free meat, fish, fruits, dark, leafy greens, and any nutrient-dense items like chia seeds, flaxseed, foods rich in vitamin C and zinc to help heal any injured tissues during childbirth, whether normal vaginal delivery or cesarean surgical route!
