What happens if you wake up during surgery?

I am a 37 year old male. I want to know what happens if you wake up during surgery?

Though this has happened, it is an extremely EXTREMELY rare event. Anesthesia protocols and technology provide for much better outcomes and well administered anesthetic. If, by chance, you were to wake up in the middle of the case, the anesthesiologist or CRNA would administer more anesthetic to ensure you proceed safely throughout your procedure.

I cannot imagine a scarier situation than to wake up when you are under anesthesia. To wake up during surgery I guess I have to ask you what do you mean. Do you mean wake up and sit up and have full control of your body or do you mean just wake up in the middle of anesthesia? I'm going to discuss the second one more specifically cuz that's the scarier one. If you wake up while you're under anesthesia and your body is paralyzed but your mind is fully awake, you are able to feel everything happening and unable to react to anything. Imagine how scary that would be to have zero ability to react to something that is causing you pain. That's what happens when you would wake up during surgery if your body was still paralyzed. For the most part, the body is paralyzed completely during surgery in the likelihood of being able to sit up during surgery is extremely low.
Hope this helps. Have a good day.
