depending on you health history you may have pain due to chronic inflammation or just the body moving bones into their proper positions. You should always ask your doctor when things occur that you have questions about. There are many topical pain relivers on the market as well as using heat or ice per the direction and advice of your doctor.
It all depends on what your condition is and what kind of pain you are experiencing. If you are feeling more sore, a brisk walk and drinking extra water will help post adjustment- especially if it is your first adjustment or first in a while.
If you are sore after an adjustment, try icing the area and stretching the surrounding muscles. Take some ibuprofen to decrease the inflammation if you can. Get back to the Chiropractor as soon as possible and let them know what happened and continue correction.
It is difficult to answer this question completely without knowing your case history, individual findings, and technique being applied. Every case is different, however, if the pain is worse or changing, be sure to mention this to your chiropractor so they can continue caring appropriately.
Typically, if you have pain after a chiropractic adjustment, it's because change is happening. This should subside after regular adjustments pretty quickly. Otherwise, you may want to try a different chiropractor. Everyone is different and has their methods. But you shouldn't have pain after adjustments on a regular basis. Just maybe at the beginning of your treatment plan.
