Avoid caffeine, tea, spicy foods or anti inflammatory over the counter. Best antiacid over the counter I recommend is Zegerid one capsule a day for 2 weeks and when needed
Gastritis
The pain associated with it can be helped immediately with plain water, bland white rice, avoiding spicy, citrus based, fried and or greasy food.
The OTC medications that can help if one is not allergic are
TUMS
PeptoBismol
Pepcid.
Sometimes, if this pain is associated with difficulty swallowing, dark colored poop, vomiting, pain in right upper rib cage, fever or lasts more than 24 hours, must see your doctor asap.
Levsin and Tramadol
Gastritis does not usually cause pain. This is one of the biggest myths in medicine. You need a proper diagnosis rather than chalking it up to "gastritis" which is what most physicians do after little to no work up. Gastritis is not the cause of pain in the vast majority of cases.
