What is causing sharp knee pain?

I’m having a sharp pain in my left knee on the outside and it feels like it’s throbbing with pain up in my thigh also. Should I go to a doctor?

I WOULD SEND YOU FOR AN X-RAY TO SEE WHAT'S GOING ON. PAIN IN THE KNEE CAN RADIATE TO THE THIGH. SEE A DOCTOR.
This sounds like ITB problems. Try stretching your side hip/glut and glut med and see if that helps.
It depends how long you have been having the pain. Have your tried Aleve, ice, stretching? Sounds like you may have IT band tendinitis--look up some exercises for that, and give it a few weeks; if pain is not improving, go see one.
Hello, for what you described, yes you should go to the doctor. They will do a physical exam and ask you questions to narrow down the possible causes (there are several). They may also order imaging to help confirm the cause.
Hello. Whether you should see a doctor depends on many factors. Any trauma, swelling, catching or giving way. How long had it occurred? One week no. 6-8 weeks probably. In general try to figure out cause and discontinue it this activity for several weeks. Stretch and ice several times daily. Maybe an anti inflammatory daily for 7-10 days. If have waited and tried other treatment or have locking, catching, swelling and giving way then you should see an orthopedic surgeon. Good luck
