Hello, The treatment for a broken toe depends on the severity of the injury. First and most importantly, make sure to have this properly and accurately assessed by a trained certified podiatrist. If the fracture is not severe, it can easily be treated via buddy-splinting the affected digit with an adjacent toe to maintain proper alignment as the fracture heals. If the fracture is severe, your podiatrist will like inform you and will recommend options including surgery vs non-surgical treatments. A reminder is that boney healing takes on average 6-8 weeks to heal. Make sure proper care like protection and healthy nutrition is maintained to allow the body to heal this injury properly. The broken toe would have to be X-Rayed to make sure there is no displacement and the bones are in the proper position. And then it will be decided the best treatment. Which sometimes can just be body splinting of the toe, if the fractured pieces are properly aligned.
