Tendonitis is caused by repetitive movement of the same muscle group. If it is the elbow which I am sure it is the first thing is to brace it with an elbow brace called Band-it. You can find it on amazon. Then the best way I have found to get rid of tendonitis is light stretching and weight lifting exercises to work the affected muscle/tendon including all of those adjacent in the same muscle group. Therapeutic laser treatment will also help to heal it in reduced time.

As a Chiropractor, I have found that Thermal Laser, Acupuncture and or Ultra-Sound have been successful in treating tendonitis along with adjusting the joint in question. Outside the office, rest from aggravating activities, gentle static stretching and icing the area for no longer than 15 minutes/hour 3-4 times per day in the acute stage have helped to reduce the inflammation in the tendon examined.
Depends on what stage the tendinitis is in. Early stage requires ice and rest with modification of activity. Middle to late stage requires heat, myofascial or soft tissue therapy or stretch, and exercises targeting the tendon. Also depends on where it is. Hip tendinitis is a little more difficult than knee or shoulder.

Treating tendinitis usually involves decreasing inflammation through movement or ice/NSAIDs. Then you want to address any trigger points or myofascial adhesions in the involved muscle and tendon. Then you rebuild strength and stability with isometric and slow eccentric exercises.
