First, you have to get an accurate diagnosis. If your physician says it’s a slipped disc, that is inaccurate. Disc pathology is defined as bulged (the nucleus is still contained in the annulus), herniated (nucleus protruded out of annulus), sequestered (disc basically fragmented and the nucleus is herniated a lot), and degenerative (disc is thinned out and dehydrated). Bulges respond well to traction, decompression, and manipulation. Herniations may need an epidural in addition to other conservative treatments to handle the inflammation. Surgery may be necessary. Sequestration is a surgical situation. Degeneration responds well to movement of the motor unit, traction, and manipulation. See a good spinal specialist like a Chiropractor or Orthopedic determine an accurate diagnosis and proper treatment plan. Take care and be well.
I would recommend a prescribed exercise program along with Chiropractic treatments for your recovery.
