What is this huge bump on my butt?

I have a bump on my butt and it is huge and it hurts when I sit down. It started this week and I looked, it has a big red area around it. How do I get rid of this?

Your bump could be a boil (abscess), cyst, or inflamed hair follicle.

Possible Causes:
Boil (abscess) – A painful, red lump caused by bacteria.
Cyst – A lump under the skin that may get infected.
Folliculitis – Infection of a hair follicle.
What to Do:
Apply a warm compress for 10-15 minutes, 3-4 times a day.
Avoid squeezing it to prevent infection.
Use an antibacterial cream if it starts draining.
See a doctor if it gets bigger, more painful, or you have a fever.

Sounds like an abscess, which is caused by a germ. Best to get checked out at an Urgent Care center for treatment. Some abscesses need to be drained and/or require oral antibiotics.
