A neutral sleeping posture, on your back with the neck supported on a small pillow, or on your side with enough thickness of pillow to bring the head and neck into line with the lower spine. Belly sleeping with the head turned is apt to make spinal pain worse. A pillow between the knees is often recommended and found helpful.
Try sleeping on your side with a pillow between your legs.
Best position is on your side in the semi fetal position. 2nd best is on your back with a small pillow under your back and under your knees. This isnt a third position. Never sleep on your stomach. Now that I said that, if you are in a lot of pain and you cant sleep, try any position that makes you comfortable until you can sleep in the other two positions. Jay H Schwartz, DC, DIBCN, DIBE
