To determine when an individual stops care with chiropractic is usually determined by the patient, the doctor, or both. Ideally, it's important to follow through with the doctors recommendations of care for the main reasoning of seeking treatment. Sometimes patient's will stop or pause care when they feel better however, this may not be beneficial long term. The nervous system is about 80% function and 20% feeling, therefore if it was decided to stop care after a change of feeling was occurring then this may give the patient or yourself a false path to health and healing. Wellness care in chiropractic is well known for ongoing patients that see results. Wellness can range from 1x/wk to 1x/quarter depending on the patient's case. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
you should have an action plan with your doctor.
1- Are you on corrective care? (ask your doctor- his/ her response is based off of your X-rays)
2- After finishing a corrective care program based on your end results your doctor will place you on maintenance program of 1/ week to 1x/ month
3- regular alignment is like dental checkups/ cleaning its a life time maintenance.
4- keeping healthy habits of physical, chemical and emotional well-being as well as good ergonomics, determine the frequency of your visits / year
Usually you stop when you are out of pain and your back is stable. There are certain back conditions that require life long care. Due to an injury that will never heal properly. For example.disc injuries require life long Chiropractic treatment once every two weeks, sometimes.
