“Why bowel movement has a rust odor?”
When I have a bowel movement, it has a metal or rust odor. My stomach is in constant discomfort and I feel bloated all the time. Any time I drink, even water I start feeling worse. I’m currently taking Pantoprazole daily and have been for at least a year. My mother passed away in 2013 from colon cancer. I’ve had at least 3 colonoscopies and each time polyps are removed. I’m supposed to go every 3 years for one but I’ve neglected my health and haven’t been since 2016. My concern is the unusual odor coming from my stool and I’m not sure if it’s related to my colon or not.

Hard to say but there could be blood in the stool. You did not mention the stool color, but if there is gross blood seen or black stool, then see your GI doctor or PCP and check a hemoglobin level.
