“Why does a chiropractor crack your neck?”
I am an 18 year old male. I want to know why a chiropractor cracks your neck?

A chiropractor typically will not crack anything, unless it's an egg for breakfast. A chiropractor will perform a treatment called an adjustment in order to keep the joints functioning properly. You have joints all over your body that help you to move. A chiropractor will adjust the joints of your spine (including your neck) to ensure that they are working properly. This decreases the stress on your joints and muscles, and allows your body to work better.
Cracking your neck accomplishes proper alignment of the spine and nervous system. This allows your body to function at its highest level.
They only "crack your neck", known as an adjustment if you have a restriction in motion of of a joint in the neck. These restrictions can come about as the result of subtle misalignments of the joint or increase in muscular tension. The adjustment often releases the joint movement restriction and loosens the associated muscular tension which helps the neck to be less painful and more functional.

A chiropractor doesn't "crack" anything. What happens is he releives misalignments in the spine through use of impulse and manipulation. The "crack" sound is just the sound of gas between joint spaces where there have been restriction or other form of dysfunction. The neck being the closest thing to the brain can be a more powerful area of the body to get a release from so many chiropractors will work on the neck. Others will just focus on the area of complaint.
