“Why does my stomach hurt often?”
Lately I have been experiencing an unusual pain in my stomach often that lasts for a few minutes throughout the day, and then subsides on its own. Is it gastric or could it be something serious? Since it doesn't necessarily happen after eating or going to the bathroom, I wasn't sure if it's a gastric issue.

I can't tell without more information. It is less likely to be of stomach origin if it doesn't happen after eating. A thorough history and physical exam can narrow down the possibilities and can lead to testing for a proper diagnosis.
Hello,
That is difficult to answer as there may be many sources of your GI pain. For example, it can be your gallbladder, appendix, pancreas, stomach, liver, bowels, blood supply, etc. I would recommend you see your primary care doctor and request a thorough physical exam, labs, and possibly other testing such as an endoscopy, colonoscopy, X-ray, or CT scan.

Determining the source of your abdominal pain should begin with a GI doctor. If they are unable to come to an adequate diagnose, then an interventional pain physician would be the next logical stop.
