Why is my intimate area itchy after rough intercourse?

I had protective intercourse (with a condom) 2 days ago, although much friction left me sore, now the soreness is mostly gone but the area is uncomfortably itchy. I don’t really have discharge from it, it doesn’t smell, my urine doesn’t burn. Is it a possible yeast infection? I’ve applied vagisil anti-itch creme but wonder if it’s a good idea? What else could I do?

rough intercourse can lead to abrasions or skin breakdown If lubrication is inadequate. These abrasions are similar to skin burns that will take time to heal and may lead to this pain and itching until healed. Another thing that could happen is the activation of dormant herpes infections. The labia minora might also be pulled during intercourse leading to discomfort. Hope this is useful, and no need to use yeast medicine, it is not helpful unless you have a yeast infection. The most effective method to prevent this is to ensure you have no allergy to latex, use a lubricant, as well well as better foreplay to avoid this problem. If not better, then see someone so they can take a look at your private area and ensure no anatomical issues are in the way.
From the context of your narrative, it is likely you might be reacting to the condoms which could elicit an allergic reaction upon contact. I recommend you consider this as a possible cause. The recommendation is to avoid contact with the allergen, meaning a change in the type of condoms. Application of Benadryl cream to the area of concern may be helpful.
Could be yeast infection? You can try Monistat-3 available over the counter. If this does not help, then see an OBGyn.
Take care!
