Will conjunctivitis go away by itself?

I am a 39 year old female and I have conjunctivitis. Will conjunctivitis go away by itself?

Conjunctivitis will usually burn itself out within 3 weeks, sometimes a little sooner. So when you use drops and it takes a couple of weeks for them to "work," the drops probably had nothing to do with your recovery.
It depends upon the underlying cause of the conjunctivitis. 1. Viral will generally run a 10-14 day course up and down, then resolve. Problem is that is is often very contagious and can cause Corneal scarring and decreased vision. 2. Bacterial may or may not resolve on its own. Can lead to a Corneal ulcer, scarring, loss of vision or even loss of the eye. 3. Allergic can be related to seasonal allergies, chronic environmental allergies of medication induced allergies. Preservatives in eye drops are a common cause. Bottom line: conjunctivitis diagnosis and treatment should be put in the hands of a competent eye physician. The consequences of non, or misappropriate, treatment can be devastating. Get Outlook for Android<https://aka.ms/AAb9ysg>
