Are antidepressants safe?

I am a 37-year-old female who has struggled with depression and wants to take antidepressants. Are antidepressants safe?

Yes. If the diagnosis in right.
Yes they are but remember that those types of medication are not great for your liver which is our filters. Life can be like Murphy’s law. So I would suggest low doses and after 4 years try to stop for a little and go see a therapist
Most of the antidepressants are safe, so much so that some of them could be used even during the pregnancy. However, like any other class of medications there are some side effects that are usually transient and benefits do outweigh the risks. As a matter of fact untreated depression could be more harmful than any medication.
Some are very safe, as safe as aspirin!
