“Are jaw surgeries done in outpatient facilities?”
I'm 32, and my dentist believes that I have a jaw disorder and is referring me to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. If I need jaw surgery, will it be done in an outpatient facility?

It depends on what type of surgery will be required to fix your particular issue. Some of them can be accomplished on outpatient basis, some might require an overnight stay in the hospital. It would be unusual for it to require a stay any longer than that.
It depends on the surgery that you require. If it is only the lower jaw, it can often be done as an outpatient procedure. Upper jaw or 2 jaw surgery require a hospital stay.
It depends on what type of surgery for jaw disorder. For minor surgery some surgeon may use the outpatient surgical center, for more invasive surgery it has to be done in hospital. Personally I do not use the outpatient center, I feel safer for the patient to have the operation in the hospital base just in case there is an emergency
It depends on the treatment plan. In our practice most single jaw procedures are done as outpatient surgeries and patients will typically go home the same day. With surgery in both upper and lower jaw, it is more common for the patient or family to elect to spend the night and go home in the morning. Many “outpatient” facilities offer an overnight stay.
