Are you awake with local anesthesia?

I am a 16 year old male. I will have surgery under local anesthesia and I feel nervous. Are you awake with local anesthesia?

If an anesthesia provider is involved, they will give you sedation and you may not remember.
Yes. But an intravenous sedation could help if you are nervous. Ask your surgeon
Usually so

Yes, you will be awake if it is a procedure done only under Local anesthesia. Occasionally though, the anesthesiologist / surgeon may provide some sedation to go along with it to calm your nerves, though you will not typically be unconscious.

While under local anesthesia please ask that you receive intravenous sedation to alleviate your anxiety. It’s common while under local anesthesia to receive IV sedation so you actually sleep during the procedure. You will do fantastic!
