There are a variety of antibiotics used to treat spider bites. Bactrim is one antibiotic that is used to treat skin infections/spider bites in individuals not allergic to sulfa drugs.
Topical antibiotic will not do anything for spider bite. You can use it if you are not allergic to it, but why?
Bactrim would not be used for a spider bite. Spider bites could usually be self treated by cleaning the area and applying a cold pack to reduce the pain or swelling. However, if the symptoms get worse, then you should consult a physician. If your bite were to get infected, then your MD would prescribe the appropriate antibiotic.
You would need to get cultures taken at your doctors office in order to know what bacteria is causing the infection. Depending on what the culture results are, your doctor will prescribe the appropriate antibiotic.
Only if you had an infection and the bacteria acquired is sensitive to the antibiotic.
Yes. It covers Gram neg and Gram pos bacteria. Usually we have gram pos on the skin surface. Antibiotics in the Penicillin family are most effective, however.
Can be used unless pt. allergic to sulfa or pregnancy.
It's unlikely to help unless there's definite evidence of infection.
