“Can anesthesia cause breathing problems?”
I am a 38 year old female. I want to know if anesthesia can cause breathing problems?

It depends upon many factors for example previous lung disease,recent cough and cold,type and duration of surgery,smoking habits so your doctor after knowing these factors can give you more accurate information.In a other wise healthy person difficulty breathing is not a major problem.

Fast for at least 8 hours. Do not smoke for one week before. If you are asthmatic, respiratory therapy before and after surgery. Anti-embolic socks if you are at risk. And always follow your anesthesiologist's advice.
