Depends what you mean by cured.... if you mean it will make symptoms go away for a period of time, then yes. If you mean if i do acupuncture the rest of my life, then yes. Acupuncture helps create a state of balance in your body... but your lifestyle and external stressors and how you respond to that creates imbalance... so acupuncture can only create balance for a period of time if you do not correct the stressors or your response to them. Make sense?
Insomnia can be complex with multiple contributing factors. Acupuncture is very effective to improve sleep, and it’s important to address other factors to relieve insomnia. Here is a list of other considerations to improve sleep:

Insomnia is definitely one of the treatments proven through research for acupuncture. However, I wouldn’t call it a cure because maybe in a month or year you may get it again due to the same illness affecting you or another. There is a very good response to acupuncture for insomnia, but it may depend on the cause as well. Definitely check with your primary to see if acupuncture may be beneficial for you.

I treat insomnia in my acupuncture practice with success. Acupuncture and sometimes the addition of Chinese Herbs can really help with insomnia. There are many reasons for insomnia so during your acupuncture visits your practitioner will create a plan for you according to your individual needs.
Insomnia could have various causes, however, acupuncture works well on improving insomnia symptoms. More details and treatment plan should be discussed with a Licensed Acupuncturist.
Thank you for your question.
Not knowing the cause of your insomnia or your medical history, a general reply only has the potential to help. Consulting a medical doctor to rule out any serious medical causes or possible medications is the first step and then consulting an acupuncturist.

Good afternoon,
Insomnia has numerous cause, if you find the right acupuncturist and the acupuncturist finds the right cause and treats accordingly you will improve a lot. The definition of cure is relieve (a person or animal) of the symptoms of a disease or condition.

Acupuncture is not always viewed as curative, but rather assisting the body in healing itself. It works to balance imbalances throughout the body. It is important to first find out if there is anything wrong medically. Maybe a medication you are taking could be causing it? Eating or drinking caffeine or sugar, I'm sure you are aware, can cause insomnia if either are consumed anytime after midday.
I would strongly suggest looking at your diet and eliminating any caffeine, sugar or spicy foods after 3pm. Secondly, take a look at your bedding situation. Is your mattress too soft or too hard? In need of replacement? Are you getting too hot while sleeping? Some memory foam mattresses retain body heat and affect sleeping. Do you need to swap out your pillow? I myself use a cervical pillow and cannot sleep well at all without it. It cradles the head and neck so that it is in the optimal (correct) position while sleeping. If your neck is not properly supported that could cause difficulty getting and staying asleep. Thirdly, I would highly recommend partaking in internal exercises such as yoga, meditation or Tai Chi to help relax your mind. Many of my insomnia patients admit that they suffer from overactive thinking and stress reduction is essential.
All that being said, acupuncture is not a cure-all. Lifestyle factors are at play as well. Taking a hard look at what you are doing and what you should or could be doing to rectify the situation are key. I ask my patients to keep a log of what they are doing and eating in the evening at dinnertime. Eliminating screen time, late night exercising and caffeinated beverages and sugary foods after midday are just some of the ways you can be accountable for your own health. Acupuncture can certainly help with insomnia but only if you commit to making lifestyle changes as well. Good luck!!

Acupuncture can help with insomnia and we have many herbal remedies that may help you get better sleep as well.
We are not allowed to say that acupuncture can "cure" anything. But acupuncture has helped people with insomnia. Insomnia can be due to various reasons and the acupuncturist would need to properly diagnose the patient in order to come up with the proper treatment protocol.
Hello & thank you for your question! Yes, acupuncture can help alleviate symptoms of insomnia, whether you have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or both. During your treatment, your practitioner will ask a series of questions, check your pulse, and look at your tongue to understand the root cause of insomnia. By using specific acupoints, and maybe suggesting an herbal formula, you will notice relaxation and improvement in sleep quality and energy.
"Cure" is a loaded word in a medical context. Let's re-frame the question a little: can acupuncture relieve insomnia and help someone sleep better? Yes, it can. We have several studies showing that acupuncture matches or outperforms prescription sleep meds - and the risk profile for acupuncture is much lower.
Acupuncture isn't likely to be a one and done type of treatment, though. There is a cumulative effect to the treatments, so be prepared to go to 3-5 sessions before you decide whether it's working.
A good acupuncturist will also make some lifestyle suggestions. The more you can implement these suggestions, the more likely your insomnia will respond faster and treatment may last longer.

Absolutely. In Chinese medicine, the main two patterns that cause insomnia are blood deficiency or yin deficiency. We would look at signs and symptoms to see what is causing insomnia for you and then would treat you accordingly.
Acupuncture can be very effective in treating insomnia. I hesitate to use the word "cure" though, only because the effects of acupuncture and their longevity vary from patient to patient. If after several treatments you find that you're feeling some improvement but it isn't lasting, I recommend trying a different style of acupuncture or a new acupuncturist. Different styles and practitioners will resonate with you differently. The better they resonate, the better your results will be. Also, keep in mind that your practitioner may have dietary or lifestyle changes for you to follow. Your adherence to them will also affect the success of your treatments.
