Can local anesthesia make you sleepy?

I'm going to have jaw surgery under local anesthesia. Is it possible for local anesthesia to make me sleepy?

Local anesthesia typically is lidocaine or bupivicaine. Both can cause some degree of "sleepiness," but not to a large degree. You will most likely still be awake and alert.
Local anesthesia per se will not make you sleepy. What makes you sleepy is the sedative and analgesic that is given intravenously to take the edge off, prior to injecting the local anesthetic.
