Orthopaedic Surgeon Questions Pelvic Pain

Can one reset a broken pelvis?

My sister was in an accident, and now she's in the hospital with a broken pelvis. She needs to have surgery for this. How long will it take for her pelvis to heal at home after the procedure, and what's the procedure like?

Depends on the type of fracture and its severity. Typically they do heal, but can take up to 12 weeks. Recovery is very dependent on the type of injury.
You need to ask the Doctor, who is performing the surgery. These questions concerning pelvic fractures have to many variables to be able to answer it without seeing the patient or her imaging studies.

That would depend on several factors: the extent of injury and fracture pattern/age/overall health. She needs to ask her treating orthopedic surgeon.
There are many different kinds of pelvis fractures. It all depends on what she has specifically. Overall, recovery is a minimum of 4-6 months.
It’s a big surgery. There are different pelvic bones. Usually 2-3 months.
Pelvic fractures should only be operated on by experienced trauma surgeons who have done many operations on the pelvis. A week or so in the hospital depending on other injuries. 12 weeks of healing time.
