ā€œCan rotator cuff surgery be done with a local anesthetic?ā€

I am a 49 year old male. I want to know if rotator cuff surgery can be done with a local anesthetic?

I would not recommend it. You can have a nerve block with local anesthesia after the surgery for post-op pain control, but I think it is better to be asleep (have general anesthesia for the surgery) and the block for control of the pain after the operation.
No.
It can be done with an interscalene block and sedation, although this is not the safest way to perform the anesthesia for this surgery. Iā€™m the sitting or lateral positions there is limited access to manipulate the patients airway if necessary during the case. A general anesthetic is the safest way to perform this surgery with an interscalene block for post op pain control.
Yes. Regional infraclavicular blocks are a very good option. In our hospitals, we use it a lot with good responses.
