“Why did my brother's cancer treatment cause weakening of his kidneys?”
My brother is 32 years old and recently underwent cancer treatment for a growth near his throat. However, after the treatment, the doctors have said that his creatinine levels are high and his kidney is becoming weak. Is it due to the treatment or something else?

Some chemotherapy, such as cisplatinum, can result in creatinine elevations. Ask your doctor if any of the chemotherapy drugs given to your brother can be a cause.
A few of the drugs used in treating cancers can have a direct effect on the kidneys. However, when patients are to receive these drugs, their renal function is carefully studied before and during the therapy. Generally, when confronted by this problem, I usually request the help of a kidney doctor (Nephrologist) to assist in the care of the patient.
