Pathologist Questions Diabetes

If my mother is diabetic, is a cataract surgery recommended?

My mother is 67 years old and has been diabetic for the last 10 years. Due to blurred vision the doctor has suggested a cataract surgery for her. Is the surgery safe for her considering her diabetes levels?

No problem, she can have a cataract removal. The ophthalmologist will need to know her medical history. That is a simple procedure. Thank you.
I believe so. You should have this discussion with her ophthalmologist.

For most surgeries/surgical procedures, it is recommended that a diabetic be in good control status of his/her diabetes prior to the procedure.
