Hematologist (Blood Specialist) Questions Hematologist

CBC blood?

At annual blood test CBC.

WBC -8.79; RBC-4.59; HGB-14.6;HCH-46.2 PLT-46.2; MCV-100.7;MCH-31.8; MCHC-31.6 RDW-12.6; MPV-12.9; NRBC- 0.00; absolute NRBC-0.00. My 3 parameters: MCV, MCH, MPV are above standard range. MCHC is below. My MCH is already 10 years at the same level. My last year MCHC was 32.9; MCV was 96.3. My MPV from 2012 was 10.7. For some reason since 2012 MPV was not measured.

My primary physician evaluated and told me not be concerned with my CBC test results.

I need the opinion of a hematologist.

Thank you in advance.

MCV is a measure of how big your red blood cells are. It can be elevated for several different reasons: Vitamin B12 deficiency, folic acid deficiency, alcohol abuse, thyroid disease, bleeding, or a bone marrow disorder. The MPV measures the size of your platelets. If it is elevated it usually means your platelets are lower than normal and your bone marrow is releasing smaller, more immature platelets to compensate for the loss. Your reported platelet count was low at 46.2 but it appears to be a mistype because it is the same number as your hematocrit (HCT). Please see your doctor regarding your results are ask for a referral to see a hematologist.
If your platelet count is normal I would not be concerned with the other values as your primary physician told you.
