Otolaryngology Questions Nose Plastic Surgery

Chronic stuffy nose. Should I consider a septorhinoplasty?

My nose is always so stuffy and my doctor feels like this is because of a nasal obstruction, from like a deviated septum. He offered a septorhinoplasty to help solve this chronic issue, but I'm not too sure. Do you think this surgery would give me immediate relief?

It really depends on your nasal structure on your relief and when you may experience it. This is a big decision and you want to avoid getting a secondary procedure which can be common. I advise you see a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in this.
Yes
Good question. A septorhinoplasty comprises two procedures. One is septoplasty where the septum is worked on to reshape. Some of it may be resected at same time. Second component is the actual rhinoplasty and this usually is the cosmetic component where the dorsal nasal hump is removed including tip and other external nasal work is done. At times a crooked nasal deformity is a functional component of a septorhinoplasty and should be subject of a non cosmetic procedure. You may also get tested for allergies so you don’t have a postsurgical surprise.
Good luck to you.
