Adolescent Specialist Questions Concentration

What can I do to help my daughter concentrate better?

My 12 year old daughter just won't concentrate on her studies. What can I do to help her concentrate on, and cope better, with her studies?

Take away her TV time and phone.
Limit phone and TV time. Reward her when grades go up. Limit distractions while studying. Organize her work. If she has a problem in a certain area she may need tutoring to get caught up
First, ascertain why she is not concentrating. Then, if she has a reason, address this issue. If there is no good reason ask her what would make her focus more. If reasonable, follow through with it. Otherwise speak to your pediatrician to see if ADD may be plying a role, or any other medical situation.
