Hematologist-Oncologist Questions coughing blood

Could coughing up blood be serious?

I have been suffering from congestion for the last month. 3 days back I saw traces of blood along with the phlegm. I also suffer from frequent nose bleeds, especially when the weather is dry. Could this be something serious, or from that?

There could be due to multiple reasons. coughing blood if you are smokers, then could be due to lung cancer. If patient gets bronchitis or pneumonia can have string of blood with sputum as well But given the fact you have that plus nose bleed, first you need to get CBC with differential. an imaging from the Chest to rule out any pathology. Frequent nose bleeding needs further evaluation as well. It can be due to low platelet (multiple causes), dryness in the nostril and manual manipulation, deficiency in blood clotting factors, and etc. Please see your hematologist.
Coughing up blood is always serious. Could be a viral or bacterial sinus/bronchial infection, but could be lung or head & neck cancer, too. See an ENT dr. as soon as you can!!
