Proctologist Questions Diverticulitis Diet

What is the diet recommended to manage diverticulosis?

I have been diagnosed with diverticulosis and everyone says it can be best managed with a diet. What is the diet recommended for this condition?

Unfortunately, there is no evidence that a diet affects the course of diverticulosis. In fact, there is nothing that needs to be done besides maintaining regular bowel movements. The diverticula in the colon are of no consequence unless they get infected (diverticulitis) or bleed. These complications may or may not happen and there is no proof that they can be prevented by diet or anything else.
High fiber diet is recommended.
