Do antidepressants work for anxiety?

I am a 29 year old female and I was diagnosed with anxiety. Do antidepressants work for anxiety?

Sometimes. It depends on which antidepressant also, as some work better than others, and some don't work at all.
SSRI, e.g., fluoxetine, SNRI, e.g., venlafaxine, and MAO inhibitors all treat anxiety. Bupropion usually doesn't.
