“Do gum line fillings hurt?”
I am a 24 year old female. I want to know if gum line fillings hurt?

They don't bother me a bit! No more than any other filling in mouth, it depends on the severity, size of the cavity, and how close the cavity is to the nerve.
Typically there is less drilling done in those areas and your dentist may recommend using a little local anesthetic in the area to make you more comfortable.
Whether or not a “gum line filling” hurts is dependent upon the depth of the restoration. As a rule, “No,” they should not hurt. You will be numbed with a local anesthetic prior to the filling being done. You should not feel anything at all when the filling is done. After the filling is complete, once the local anesthetic has worn off, if there is any pain at all you should contact your dentist. There are times, if the decay is very deep and close to the pulp of the tooth, that the tooth can hurt. Again, you should contact your dentist as soon as possible if there is any discomfort in the tooth.

If you are asking if having it done hurts, the answer is no because dentists usually have a way of making the area numb prior to getting any work done. Now, you need to look into why there is a problem at the gum line. Some reasons could be decay which usually presents as a change in the color of the tooth. Other reasons could be due to clenching or brushing too hard. It is always best to have a dentist evaluate the cause of the problem so that you can prevent the problem from getting worse or spreading. Good luck and I hope that helps!
